“Shooter In The Abstract”
It’s time to release the first version of the Sekrit Project, also known as ‘Shooter In The Abstract’. This is a simple little shooter arena game where you basically just try to stay alive.
You have a few options for how to play. You can:
It’s free and yours to enjoy forever!

I got 16,700-something before I had to quit. I really dig the aesthetic, so it wasn’t easy to come up with replacement sprites (rather, I think it doesn’t need them).
The ship is your highest contrast object, with the powerups slight less so, and that’s perfect - I’d suggest dropping the score to the lowest layer in the playfield so that it doesn’t overlay the objects, but rather underscores them. Other than that, all you need is a logo, sir!

Sweet, thanks man! Yeah, the graphics are pretty serviceable for what they are.

I don’t get it, is there any point to the game other than moving your mouse around trying to avoid the little boxes with your little triangle? And is it supposed to look like the screenshots above, because I’ve tried both the downloaded version (on a mac) and the play online version (with firefox) and it has a white background (not gray) and the image is really flickery, like looking at a really old fluorescent light at a truck stop. It’s difficult to see where the boxes are exactly. I got a score of 5845 my first time. Is it supposed to be more difficult that this?

5,845 would indicate you didn’t get very far.
It gets a lot harder over time - your ship gets more powerful and there are more enemy types.
It’s not for everyone and, yes, it’s basically just a simple shooter game. But hey, it’s fun! For most people, anyway.
