Description

Monster spawn factories are just regular monster entities that are placed in the level except that spawnflag 4 (‘Is_Spawn_Factory’) must be set in order for Qonquer to use them.  Once that flag is set, the monster becomes a template that can spawn monsters as Qonquer requires them.

Using the ‘spawnwavestart’/’spawnwaveend’ fields you can exert fine control over which monsters spawn and when.  If you’re careful enough, you can create entire waves of specific monster types or staged progressions through many differents kinds of monsters.

Important Fields

“arenaname” (string)
Indicates which arena this monster spawns in.  Should match the ‘arenaname’ of an info_qonquer in the level.
 
“spawnwavestart” (float)
The wave number when this monster will start spawning.
 
“spawnwaveend” (float)
The wave number when this monster will stop spawning. This combined with the ‘spawnwavestart’ field give you the ability to choose which monsters will spawn and during which waves.
 
In The Game
 
Qonquer spawns monsters in waves as the game progresses.  It will look for monster_* entities with a matching ‘arenaname’ field and validity for the current wave (by looking at the spawnwavestart/spawnwaveend fields).
 
The frequency of the monster spawning and the number of monsters the player will be facing is determined by the game itself.
